summery stripy curtain

I made this curtain twice for my 2 windows in my living room. I just love them, because of the color they make the light warm inside even if its rainy outside. They are easy to do, but take quite some time, because of all the edges you need to sew. I hope you like my idea, I would love to see what you make of it. ;) Of course you can mix up the fabrics and colors.

So this is how I made it: Read the rest of this entry

last-minute-costume-ideas

I have some easy to do ideas about costumes you’ll be able to finish this weekend and wear to any parades on monday and tuesday. Since I myself didn’t have time to prepare anything, I will be sewing along with you and post the different steps after each other. I will inform you on facebook and twitter every time I add something to the recipe. First I give you your shopping list. For this Hippie-Costume you gonna need ca. 3.5 m of fabric, I use a flower print. I am wearing normally a german size 36, that would be an american size 6 and in the UK a size 8. So if you wear bigger sizes you gonna need more fabric. You also gonna need some rest of an elastic fabric like jersey, about 1 m of elastic and a zipper about 20 cm long. And a fitting shirt or blouse.

This Hippie-Costume you need 1.8 m of a flower-print fabric, even though I could imagine it out of neon-colored fake-fur too. ;) This one is pretty much uni-sex and can also be worn by male hippies. If you want to you can add the vest from the other costume above, but then you should buy 2.2 m. For this one sizes do not need to be considered much, Only if your a very tall person you might need some more fabric. You also gonna need a rest of jersey, some elastic and clothes to wear with it;)

this one I am not going to sew, but its more as an idea what you can do with the same pattern as above. If you sew them in fake-fur and add some ears on a hairband you can also have a bear costume. So use your imagination. ;) For this one you would need about 2.2 m of fake fur. Also jersey-rest and elastic. Also an hairband if you wanna do your bear-ears yourself.  And of course a fitting shirt and pants. If you are unsure if you need more or less fabric as me, or if you wanna mix up the parts or only do a few of them, please do your pattern first, I will upload how to later today and then go fabric-shopping with your pattern. Look what I got today

Oh I wish vacations were here already and I could start making things out of them :)  They are so inspiring. What are you seeing made of one of them?  Or  all of them? Love to hear your visions ;)  In the comments or on facebook or twitter.

Long-sleeve with batik dye and braided waist-line

So since my pc is healthy again I finally get to upload the modification-idea I promised you 2 weeks ago. I certainly love wearing this garment. I hope you will enjoy yours too. :) Its easy to do and you only sew a few stitches by hand. No sewing machine required. ;)  Of course you can do it in different colors, just keep in mind that you also need to like what both colors mixed will look like. Read the rest of this entry
