selvage/selvedge
The side edges of a fabric, mostly a little different looking and feeling then the bigger part of the fabric. Selvages don’t fray and are in the same direction as the thread/grain line .
bias binding
bias binding is a strip of fabric cut in a 45° angle to the selvage (or grain line/thread line), because of that it is a little stretchy even when the fabric normally isn’t elastic

seam allowance

distance from seam to border
since you can’t sew right at the edge of the pattern you need some more material to sew on, those 0.7cm-4cm are your seam allowance

waistband

a waistband is the upper ending part of any skirt or pants, often sewn on, can be at the waist or your hips, matters what kind you prefer to wear.

secure seam
Securing your seam means that you do some stitches back and forth, this way the endings of the seam doesn’t undo themselves.

thread line/grain line

thread line or grain line is any line thats parallel to the selvages (edges of width of fabric) and in patterns normally drawn as an arrow. Please be sure to put that arrow really parallel to the selvages, because only this way you can be sure it will fit and look as you want it to be.
