upcycle idea: lots of braids

Heyhey,

so another upcycle idea with an old long-sleeve of my mum. I certainly like the look of it there is just one small problem: my mum is a size smaller of me, also 10 cm shorter and wearing xs, so normally I still would fit in most of her stuff as long as its elastic ;) which I forgot to consider: through the braiding the shirt gets less elastic, so a lot tighter, as you can see I can still manage to get inside, but its a little trouble. ;) So if you want to do something similar better use an longsleeve that fits right or is a little bit loose. ;) As all upcycles with braiding this one does not require a sewing machine and is easy to do, because of the amount of braids it took me 2 evenings instead of just one. I hope you have fun with it! (The dress I am wearing under it is by H&M) Read the rest of this entry

grandpa’s shirt + mum’s cardigan = my new dress

Heyhey,

my ma gave my some cloth she does not wear anymore and my grandma also wanted to give away lots of her old clothes and the cloth of my grandpa (who died about 3 years ago) so I have lots of stuff to upcycle or use as fabric for new clothes or other things. :) Well, this one is a little short for dress, at least when your as tall as me, and I dont live in the 60s so I am not used to wear skirts that end just over the butt ;) but I like it anyhow, I will save it for autumn and wear it with leggings. ;) or get used to shorter skirts. Well sadly the cardigan fabric stretched quite a bit at the waist, I should have used something to stabilize the seam, but a waist-belt looks great with it anyhow:) I will show you pictures how I style it in the future.

painting an old long-sleeve new

Heyhey,

so I did another upcycle just with textile color and brushes… its actually inspired by the dvd-cover design if the movie juno, which is also made with stripes and writing in between… and I liked the look… its an old long sleeve my mum decided she wouldnt wear again… shes a size smaller then me, but with that jersey it still fits and I like tight clothes. Well here’s what I did:

upcycled long-sleeve with braided spirals

heyhey,

so another easy, quick upcycle without needing a sewing machine. So if you have a long-sleeve you don’t wear anymore and think its boring, maybe you would like to wear it more often after braiding spirals around it.

“I love IKEA”-bag

Hey,

at the last visit of my sister we were tossing ideas around and one of them was to make a nice bag out of the IKEA-bag material, that idea stuck to my head and so I took my free day yesterday to sew itup. :) and I love it! I hope you like it half as much as I do. Let me know what you think! Read the rest of this entry

upcycled t-shirt in uniform style

that is a new upcycle idea, very fast and easy, I did it in a light uniform-style, imitating the metal-buttons in the front centre with silver fused pearl beads and same for epaulettes on the shoulders, I don’t think anyone here even recognizes the uniform-parts, since something like epaulettes or more decoration on shoulder is to be seen quite easily. Well uniform or no uniform, I like the look of the t-shirt and with black and silver you can not do anything wrong. ;) by the way the straight line in the front makes you look slimmer, the epualettes broaden you shoulders just a little bit, for me it works fine, but if you think your shoulders are wide and you don’t like it, this is not something you should wear. I already washed it in my washing machine once, so you don’t have to worry washing would be difficult. Read the rest of this entry

my favorite (for now) upcycled long-sleeves

more of me going crazy with tops and long-sleeves :) oh I just love the outcome, wearing one already :) those are really easy to do too, and would be a good idea if one of your long-sleeves is broken somewhere maybe you can revive it by using this method to replace the broken parts. Let me know what you did or what great ideas you had on facebook, twitter, or youtube. Looking forward to it! :) Read the rest of this entry

tank-top with braids in front and back

So, I watched “The Losers” the other day and fell in love with the top that Zoë Saldana wears in one scene and thought I could do something like it myself. So I came back to modifactions or as I learned “upcycling”. :) I already work on other ideas, that is so much fun and so fast to do. So you can look forward to more crazy ideas I get from simple tops and long-sleeves. Sewing projects are also on the way, sorry lately I felt more like sewing than writing and cutting videos, but I will try my best to catch up with that. Read the rest of this entry

Long-sleeve with batik dye and braided waist-line

So since my pc is healthy again I finally get to upload the modification-idea I promised you 2 weeks ago. I certainly love wearing this garment. I hope you will enjoy yours too. :) Its easy to do and you only sew a few stitches by hand. No sewing machine required. ;)  Of course you can do it in different colors, just keep in mind that you also need to like what both colors mixed will look like. Read the rest of this entry

modifications: tank top with batik dye and braided back

I did some tops and long-sleeves with batik dye, because I loved to do it as a kid;), its easy and fun and I also like the look of it, it always reminds me of summer and I love summer;). So with this shirt I did the dye and the braiding, if you like it, you can also do only one of them, the braiding works with any jersey-top for the dye you need very light colors or white works best. You should buy the machine wash dye for your garment, because it stays in better, if you just dye in a bucket the color will fade of easily. And if you stick to the instructions of your dye, there should not be any color remaining in the machine, ruining the next clothes you wash with the same machine, but when that should happen I am not responsible for it. Tank-top with fused pearls

So I decided to do some tutorials about how you can change your clothes without needing much time nor money. For this one you need some tank-top you already own or bought new. I bought a new one, because I give away all clothes I did not wear for a long time. But maybe your different and have one laying around you don’t wear anymore. ;) This was fun, it actually took me about half an hour and the fused pearls cost me o.55 € per meter, so in total 1,65 € for a new top ;) . I hope you enjoy it!
