winter coat part 1: pattern and cutting

Heyhey,

I just did a cutting marathon, after the moose things yesterday the coat today (well I will cut the lining another day, I just aint a fan of cutting ;) ) and I ruined my fingernail again. Does anyone else has that problem? When I get all those pins into the fabric laying on a table.. or the ground (both varaitions my back really hates, a high table would be better, well you cant have everything huh?)… well anyhow, when pinning a pattern to a fabric my fingernail on my right index finger breaks… possibly because I use it to push the pin up again, well enough of my poor fingernails :) The thick coat fabric is cut and I hope when I go to cut the lining my fingernails will be more resistent ;)

So I did a short tutorial for everyone, who wants to do a jacket like this, how to do the cape, I hope that is helpful. If you need more tutorials about the patterns please let me know! Read the rest of this entry

flower power

Heyhey,

so another baby-pants isnt that cute? I just have to wait for a taxnumber and I can start my shop. :) well this one took quite a while because of the applique. But I really like the final look! :) and as you can see, I am still in my 70s phase, the funny thing about that is that I saw in the stores the fashion for autumn and it looks like 70s. :) I am a trendsetter :)

Jacket Part4: Waistband, Collar and Pockets

Heyhey,

so you and I wanted pockets in my jacket and it has pockets now. :) This were my next steps:

I do my pockets in my side-seams, because its easy and doesn’t change the look of the jacket, because its almost invisible. Go at least 4cm up from the edge, so you have some corner to keep your stuff in the pocket and it wont drop out of it easily. Read the rest of this entry

another batwing/dolman sleeve

Heyhey,

so here comes my new batwing/dolman sleeve idea! It would almost work as a dress. This one I only did with a serger, but I already made one just with sewing machine, for fabrics that does not fray much that works just fine, but for the bigger knit fabric I used, the serger was and is the better choice. I’ll post a few pictures to the other variation soon.

With the knit fabric I fell in love a while ago and had to buy one meter, that wasn’t enough for this top, you need at least 10 cm more then that, so this top got 5cm shorter then planned, but it fits great anyway :) .  That happens if you work with fabric you already have. The crazy print I found a while ago as a cheaper rest and it looked so much fun. :) Well I hope you like it, too. Let me know what you think and show me how yours turns out! Read the rest of this entry

Parkour-pants for my sis

My sis wanted new pants to train parkour in. She had some special wishes. Since she is tall she wanted long pants and they should be wide. Additionally she wanted deep pockets that wouldn’t stay open, so nothing could entangle while running and climbing. Also she needed the possibility to ruffle the leg-hems close to the legs. So this is what I came up with and she already wears it, so: Mission accomplished!

This is a really easy pant-pattern you could do with a un-elastic fabric too, since you have elastic waistbands. I am already very curious what ideas your coming up with! Read the rest of this entry
