next upcycled top… 🙂 it turned out to look very romantic and girly, I like it even though thats not normally my style 🙂
Recipe
Ingredients
top in your size (mine if from tally weijl 6€)
3m ribbon (mine is originally christmas-decoration, bought last year at LIDL)
pins and tailor shears
What you do
first cut some ribbon in about the size twice to the middle of the top, if you use ribbon like mine, do knots at the end
now fold side-seam on side-seam so you have a fold in the front centre and pin a triangle, mine is about 8cm down
cut into strips in a right angle to the fold, the strips should be about 1 cm wide, or you have troubles that some rip, I made the experience for you, no need to repeat my mistakes;)
then fold open again, and weave the ribbon through right and left, with ends at the down end, then turn the second around the first strip and pull the third strip through the loop of the second, then pull the fourth through the loop of the third and so on, braid till the second last one, leave the last as it was before, cut the second last one in the middle and knot it around the last one, pull some of the ribbon loose at the side, to keep the elasticity of the fabric, when you can stretch the fabric with the ribbon, knot the ribbon around that.
then cut a another part of the ribbon again, longer this time, weave it through the middle, knot it around the other knots and let the rest lay down the shirt
next fold the shirt, side-seam on side-seam, again, pin a 2cm parallel line to the fold and cut into 1cm strips in a right angle to the fold
fold open again
now braid the back down, turn the second strip around the first, pull the third strip through the loop of the second, then the fourth through the loop of the third and so on, leave the hem as it was, stop braiding just before you reach it
then cut another long part of the ribbon, length: twice the length of the slightly stretched back, then weave the first half through the braid
and then the second half, pull the ribbon loose, so the top keeps being elastic

knot the ribbon loose together
leave the hem as it was
Finished!

So I hope you like my idea 😉 Tell me what you think!
All the best
