Well here is a post overdue: how I replaced a broken zipper back in UFO finishing January.

the broken zipper

first I undid the seams at the sides 

 next the little part where it was fixed at the end

then just those short ends at the top, just 2 stitches before and after

and the broken zipper is out

next I placed the new zipper in the holes

pinned the long side in place

and sewed and also sewed the short opening

then sewed the end

and cut the end of the zipper off

pinned the fly closed

the still open side of the zipper

placed the top in the little hole at the waistband

and pinned the side in placed

then sewed the waistband-hole closed and the side of the zipper by hand, with stitches you cant see from the right side.
