how I organize my patterns

Heyhey,

when I was putting away one pattern and looking for the other I thought maybe it would be interesting to share how I (attempt to) keep my patterns in order. I have those big ring binders filled with sheet protectors

I fold the patterns down to a size where they fit in. Then I use sticky notes to describe what pattern is in that sheet protector, I guess most of that notes only make sense to me. I definitely should have one binder for skirt, one for tops and so on, but for now they are still in chaos 😉

Well I hope this was interesting for you. How do you keep your patterns in order?

  1. This has inspired me to start filing my own patterns! I make a lot of things out of books but since I’ve started doing more dressmaking I’ve found that I end up with bits of pattern all over the place! Will definitely be investing in a nice folder this weekend – thanks for sharing 🙂

  2. I use a very similar method! Only thing that is different is that I use a sticker to write down what it is and I also keep the original patterns (I’m a tracer) in sheet protectors in the same binder.

    • the original patterns I keep in the magazines, because there are always other patterns on too. 😉 I seldom buy patterns, most I do myself, some I use of magazines.
