Not the best idea when your back hurts

Moin

Because I was just doing my taxes and watched The Home Edit on Netflix while doing so, I had this great idea of organising and decluttering my papers. Ok, probably not so great because that included me, sitting on the floor, going through papers and as I told you I have some troubles with my spine at the moment. So I had to take a lot of breaks…

Anyways, this is what my paper corner looked when I started this morning:

Not to bad in general, because I just stuff all “important papers” into that box on the ground. So, if I need something, I know where to look for it, but it can take going through the whole box to find it. Or maybe not, because it is in one of the places where I collect the paper before it goes into the box. So I needed a new system… and happily could get rid of anything that was no longer needed.

But first sitting on the ground making the chaos worse:

Ok, I sat on the yellow air-pillow, not on the ground, but hey – close enough πŸ˜‰

I do colour-code as well, but not in a rainbow, so it might not look as pretty, but I am still proud of what I accomplished… and the box is gone πŸ˜‰ I still have some last folders to finish though πŸ˜‰

And in some weeks, maybe with the new year, I should go through that again, maybe there are some more papers I could part with, especially with the new year when things “age out”. πŸ˜‰

I know decluttering and organizing got more popular lately. I actually do that quite regularly since… always. If you followed my blog for some years, you might remember, that I moved quite a few times. When you had to carry your possessions often, you start thinking about if they are really worth their weight. πŸ˜‰ And since I am bicycle touring I wonder even more how much stuff I have and if I really need it.

What about you? Do you like your things,Β or are you more of a minimalist? (I am not a minimalist by far, but I could do with less and feel better about it.)

  1. I feel I want to be a minimalist but my stuff will just accumulate and it can be really hard to get rid of things we see as being sentimental to us, or things which we feel may come in use one day.

    • Well, if I am not sure about something I put it in a box in storage and look at it again after a year. Everything I did not take out of it within a year I probably do not need again. πŸ˜‰
Of course, I have some sentimental items as well, what I try to do is to have one item as a reminder of each person or situation and not many πŸ˜‰
