Naturlandet Rundt – let‘s try this again day 0

Moin

I could start like last year: Charlotte, Button and I are finally on the road again. And even though Charlotte feels so heavy fully loaded and I am out of training it was nice to start a new tour. Today I only planned to get to Denmark, so it does not really count as a first day.

This year we started from home. I actually wanted to leave for the tour tomorrow, but there is planned construction on the train tracks starting tomorrow. So I had to rush and get everything ready by today. Another problem was my VisaCard, which I still haven’t gotten. So I am cycling with a lot of cash, that makes me kind of nervous. Well first we took the underground to Hamburg main-station, where I tried to buy tickets for Charlotte and me which was pretty difficult considering we were not allowed at the ticket-selling place and had to fight with a machine. When we finally got to the train it was pretty full… with people and bicycles. Some of the cyclist were nice, but the whole situation was pretty stressful for me. So I was pretty happy when we reached Rostock:

Now we had to cycle to the ferry terminal. Which worked ok for a strange city. They had good signs and we never got lost.

But of course one ferry had just left and we had to wait almost 2 hours until the next one. I spent that time eating and reading.

In the line waiting for the ferry I met some nice bicyclists from southern Germany.

The ferry was alos late, but finally we got on it.

On the ferry I ate french fries for dinner and drank a lot and went to the bathroom a lot. 😉 And read some more. I am re-reading Harry Potter on this tour.

After 8 pm we finally arrived at Gedser where we cycled to a different shelter-place, which is not very well marked yet, I am guessing it is new. It is in a harbour and our tent is now on a playground. While I was pitching the tent I was attacked by mosquitos, which is why I normally prefer to do that earlier in the day.

I also met a nice sailor who helped me with the machine that gives you the cards you need to use the bathrooms.

We cycled today:

11.7km in Rostock, with an average speed of 12.7km/h. this I will not count towards the total since it is not part of the Naturlandet Rundt

2km in Gedser

0:11:37 h moving Charlotte

average speed: 10.3km/h (thanks to all the pushing)

max speed: 15.8km/h

money spent:

underground 3.80€

train 24€ for me 6.50€ for Charlotte

ferry 14€ for me and 1.50€ for Charlotte

Dinner 8€

30 DKK for the campground

516 kcal burned according to my huawei band 6

I will be writing again tomorrow so you can pedal along with us!

keep exploring and smiling

your Fairy
