new dress = so much fun!

so I actually didnt get all the things done, I wanted to do over the weekend. Well that should teach me to make more realistic plans. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Just I see that free weekend and I get so excited thinking of all the sewing projects I could do. ๐Ÿ™‚ Well I finished a new dress (it actually was a very quick project) and its so much fun. I gonna wear it soon and show you how it looks on. ๐Ÿ™‚

DSCF4187I am using the pattern of the color-blocking dress, but I pinned the parts together, so I only have one front and one back part

DSCF4188then I drew the outline of the pinned parts on a new paper

DSCF4189and I made the hem a little bit more flare, by just drawing the hip line straight to the hem

DSCF4190DSCF4191and I did the same with the other part

DSCF4192the sleeve stay the same. ๐Ÿ™‚ fold the selvedges into the middle, so you have 2 folds, because I had a print I wanted to have all parts in the same direction, I guess it would look the same in both directions, but I just wanted to be sure

DSCF4193and cut the pieces

DSCF4194pin the side seams of front and back together

DSCF4195also pin the sleeve seam and the shoulder dart and sew all pinned seams, I also did serge them, even though jersey normally dont fray, but just in case ๐Ÿ˜‰

DSCF4196DSCF4197take the dress wrong side out, put the sleeve in right side out and pin the armhole, this way right sides should face each other

DSCF4198and sew (and serge)

DSCF4199now I pinned the sleeve hems and dress hem

DSCF4200and sew, I used zigzag stitching for it to make it elastic (for the straight stitching at the seams I used my stretch stitch my sewing machine has)

DSCF4201then measure around your neck-hole, take that measurement and cut a strip with that measurement and 5 cm wide. If you have a jersey thats more elastic in a right angle to the grain line, you need to cut it that way, then sew the ends together, with 1 cm seam allowances, that makes it 2 cm shorter then your neck-hole actually is.

DSCF4205fold it in the middle and pin it to the neck-hole and sew, then I folded the seam allowance down and sewed it with zigzag stitching to keep it down

DSCF4216and finished!

Doesn’t it look fun? I cant wait to wear it!

keep sewing and smiling
