Moin,
when I took up swimming again and wanted to buy myself a bathing suit I could not find anything I like. Today its normal to make sports clothes for women in black, grey, purple and pink and if you’re lucky blue…
Black and grey are really not my colors… and then I was also kind of shocked be the prices for a normal sporty bathing suit. So I took the challenge and tried to sew my own.
First of the fabric: I got some of my designs printed on the sports lycra by Spoonflower. The pattern is a try to merge my tank top-pattern with a bathing suit I own. This one is my third try and its a wearable try, but I still had enough fabric left to do another. I am working on an improved version.
I have a clear elastic named framilastic by Freudenberg in all my seams for better and longer elasticity.
Has anyone ever tackled swimwear before? What are your experiences?
keep sewing and smiling

I did make a swim suit for our trip to Mexico. Once I got the hang of sewing with the Lycra and the elastic I really enjoyed sewing it and it turned out well! Good job with your’s!
thank you!
Is there a picture of your swimsuit somewhere?
I posted about making it in April or May of 2017. I can’t remember if there is one of me on there or not. 🤷♀️ but I did write about sewing it!
Found it. 😉 April 2017, it looks really nice
Oh, thank you! ☺️
