how to make dungarees: straps, buttons and hem

Heyhey,

here are the next and final steps for the dungarees, if you didn’t read the first parts yet, you can find them here: part1, part2, part3, part4.

DSCF5306Next I measured fromt the waistband around my back over the shoulders to the flap and cut 2 strips with that length plus 5cm for ease and buttonholes. They are about 7cm wide

DSCF5307then I folded them in half, pinned and sewed

DSCF5311and ironed the seam allowances apart and in the middle of the strip, not I marked the triangle I wanted my straps to end in

DSCF5312DSCF5315and sewed, then cut the seam allowance close to the seam

DSCF5313DSCF5314now I undid a few cm in the middle of the strap

DSCF5316and turned the straps right side out through that hole, marked the beginning of the buttonholes, sewed them, then closed that hole, and sewed buttons to the back of the waistband and to the flap

DSCF5323DSCF5324I sewed a button hole in my waistband ending, and marked the placement for the buttons:

DSCF5328now I only needed to do the hem: I serged the open edges

DSCF5329then marked the hem allowance

DSCF5330and folded it up on that line

DSCF5331now I measured from the needle to the side, my hem allowance minus 0.5cm

DSCF5332and marked that with a tesa strip,

DSCF5333so I sewed all around with a parallel line to the fold

DSCF5342 DSCF5343 DSCF5344finished dungarees!

I hope this was helpful for you! Let me know if there are any questions left about this!

keep sewing and smiling
