This week I got my new bicycle, but sadly a storm was preventing us from our first day-long tour together. I also started decorating her, and you can still vote for her name. And I got to test some of my gear.
(This is a weekly blogging series, started before I did my first weeklong bicycle tour around the little belt on the Danish Baltic Sea Bicycle Route. Now I want to do the whole Bicycle Route next year, and for that, I do some shorter tours to stay in training, study Danish, do other sports, sew some things, plan, map, buy, and worry. And blog about that every Sunday… it is an adventure already.)
When I was planning the bicycle pick up and the tour back the following day, I wanted to test out quite some things I bought over the last couple of months and new elements of my bicycle. The first thing I decided not to take with me was my solar charger because the forecast was definite about no sun all day.
I took my power bank to test out the USB-charger of the bicycle but did not get to test it because it is not recommended for rain. I will probably ignore that recommendation somewhen in the future, but I thought maybe not at first use.
Thanks to the rain I got to test out my waterproof socks, and I have to say, I was pretty wet, but my feet stayed dry. Approved!
Then I bought myself a puffy-jacket at Lidl some days ago, when they had trekking gear. I wore it on Friday and packed it up into an airtight pack-bag on Saturday to get it small. And it worked great.

Another thing that got tested yesterday was my helmet-hat, and it worked great. Of course, the dripping started again, when it was soaked, but that was expected.
I also spend some hours today getting some film/sheeting/foil on the new bicycles fenders, to cover up the black colour. As you can see, it is not perfect, but I really like the colour and overall look. (foil by MooxiBike)
I have some foil leftover and will decide later if other black parts need to be covered up. Some components, like the handlebar, almost disappear, when fully loaded. For today my back hurts enough. 😉
Other weekly preparations:
I studied no Danish,
did 3 mornings with 4 yoga-flows,
1 evening training feet + stretch,
did 0 functional fitness for cyclists workout,
went to the gym 0 times,
went not to swim-training,
and cycled 15.62km in 1:01:32h with Leif and 43.87km in 3:23:20h with the new bike.
keep exploring and smiling
