how to sew pants: waistband and finish

Heyhey,

here are the last steps for the pants. The other parts can be found here: part1, part2, part3, part4 and part5.

DSCF6202I measured around the top of my pants

DSCF6203and drew a waistband with that length plus 2 times the seam allowance and 8-10cm wide (so the waistband in the end is 3-4cm wide)

DSCF6204next I pinned it to the pants

DSCF6205sewed, folded over, folded the seam allowance inside, pinned in place sewed all around close to the original seam

then I only had to sew the hem and button and button hole

DSCF6237 (copy) DSCF6238 (copy)and my pants are finished! they are just so comfy, I really like wearing them

DSCF6283so I made 2 more of them.

I hope this was helpful for you! Let me know if you have any questions.

keep sewing and smiling

  1. They look great. I have not tackled a pair of pants in many many years. I was not happy with the waistband and vowed never to make another pair. But with your instructions I might just give a pair a try. Thanks for all the help!

    • thank you! glad I could help, I made some more pants, with some I took more pictures of the waistband-sewing, so if you decide to try maybe they can be of help as well. After the first men’s shirt I also vowed I never make another, and I haven’t until now, but I sewed quite a few blouses. If someone would ask me if I make another I would probably try it. šŸ˜‰
