Heyhey,
here are finally the next steps for the dress #111 of burda 2/15! The first parts can be found here: part1, part2, part3 and part4.
first I pinned the ironed buttonhole facing from last post in place. folded open
then I started ironing the facing for the buttons by marking the final width
next I ironed the seam allowance into the facing
then ironed the edge close to the marked line
now I folded and ironed it all over at the marked line
also pinned in place, as close to the original seam as possible
I also pinned the side seams
and shoulder seams
and I pinned the sleeves facings to the sleeve hems, sleeves right side out, facings wrong side out, right sides facing each other
also the collar parts on top of each other
I sewed the facings as close to the original seam as I could
sewed and overlocked side seams and shoulder seams
I sewed the sleeve hem and overlocked the top end of the facing
sewed the collar
and cut the seam allowance short at the corners
to turn the collar right side out it helps to first iron the seam allowances apart
then I folded it over and iron the right form
same with the hem of the sleeves, seam allowances apart
then folded the facing inside and ironed
then I sewed the facing in place, I use the sticky note to mark the width from the edge to the seam, so it looks even, and the sticky note is easy to remove
my finished sleeves
the hem
the inside
I hope this was helpful and/or interesting for you, let me know if you have any questions!
Next week I will sew the sleeves to the bodice, and attach the collar and maybe also do the buttonholes and buttons.
Dont forget to vote for your favorite pattern of burda 6/15 here.
keep sewing and smiling
