how to sew… the dress #122 of burda 4/15: cutting

Heyhey,

I wrote this on my ipad yesterday, but then I got so annoyed with editing texts with a touchpad that I gave it up.  Anyhow you can find my post about the pattern of this dress here.

DSCF6952 the fabric I used was supposed to be a curtain, or at least IKEA thought that way, so I folded it in half.

DSCF6953 then I tried to place all pattern pieces on the fabric and when I found the right way I pinned them to the fabric, right with the grain line

DSCF6955the collar and collar stand are needed twice in fold.

DSCF6956 then I cut in the seam allowance at all important markings (like the shoulder point)

DSCF6957 because my fabric looks the same on both sides, I marked the wrong side

DSCF6958I also needed smaller pocket pieces without the straight part at the end, so I folded it away

DSCF6959 and I could cut 2 smaller pocket parts.

DSCF6960next I marked the pocket placement by cutting it out of the paper and then drawing lines on the fabric, of course on both parts

DSCF6962 same with the darts in back and front

DSCF6963all cut and marked pattern pieces ready to be sewn

I hope this was interesting for you, if you have any questions please let me know.

you can still vote for the next tutorial here.

keep sewing and smiling
