how to sew… the dress #122 of burda 6/15: sewing 1

IMG_0708 IMG_0711Heyhey,

this week is somehow a little chaotic, but I did not forget my tutorials and (2 days late) here are the next steps for the hippie dress #122 burda 6/15. The first steps can be found here: pattern, cutting

DSCF7225I started with sewing between the markings with very wide stitching

DSCF7226and ruffled

DSCF7227then checked the measurement, the pattern suggested

DSCF7228now I cut 2cm wide stripes of the leftover fabric, I used the unprinted sides

DSCF7229then I pinned a fabric-strip to the ruffles, and did that to both back-parts and both front parts, then sewed the strips onto the ruffles

DSCF7230next I pinned the centre back seam, carefully matching the print at the parts where it is not ruffled

DSCF7231and the side parts to the front side seam: marking to marking

DSCF7232also pinned the shoulder seams of the facings

DSCF7233and I pinned the sleeve-seams

DSCF7234then sewed the pinned seams with the stretch-stitch of my sewing machine.

DSCF7235at the side parts

DSCF7236I cut into the front part until that last stitch

DSCF7237and pinned the sleeve part of the front to the side part

DSCF7238looks like this

DSCF7239also sewed my sleeve seams and shoulder seams

DSCF7240when I sewed that end of the side part on I was careful that the seams start and end in the same point, so there will not be any holes

DSCF7241then I pinned the side part marking to marking onto the back part

DSCF7242and the whole side seam down, then sewed the side seams

DSCF7243cut into the back part and pinned the rest of the side seam and sewed

DSCF7244my dress so far, still open in the front.

Do you have any questions about this so far? Do not hesitate to ask!

Next week I will do the facing and close the centre front.

Do you like my fabric? You can get your own here. There are also more color options.
