cycling through a crazy world – day 7

Moin

Button, Charlotte and I are still on our tour on the Leine-Heide-Radweg. (day1; day2; day3; day4; day5; day6) We reached Göttingen, now it is one day off tomorrow, before turning back north.

We left a little late again, around 11:20, and then after just 3km, I already had to stop and take off part of my pants. They have those zippers so you can shorten them to shorts, or just below the knee, which I like.

I was in a good mood, but feeling a little weak, so I also ate one snack before cycling on. And the hilly part started, and worst of all was this one:

I pushed 20m at a time before I had to do a short stop. On top of that hill, we had travelled 6km, and it had taken us about 1 hour.

Luckily we had some downhill next, but also some not so bad uphills again and reached Kalefeld:

12.15km in 1:08:29h (that’s just the time Charlotte was moving, with breaks, it was 22 minutes more.)

Now I followed some moderately hilly routes until we reached the B3 at Edesheim. But the B3 was really full and loud and – going uphill so I decided to take an additional km to get back on the Leine-Heide-Radweg already. This was a lot nicer to pedal. South of Northeim we took another break:

29.17km in 2:18:21h

The way was mostly flat from now on, but there was some headwind… and no bench or resting-spot to find. So I just parked on the side of the road and sat down on Charlotte’s top tube.

44.34km in 3:18:33h

Some more flat roads until I reached a big obstacle. We were supposed to cross a bridge with stairs on it… I tried it twice and then gave up and took another way, relying on my knowledge of Göttingen. Luckily I really ended up in a part I knew, and so I could pedal on to my fathers home, where I will be staying 2 nights before turning back north. Tomorrow I will be hunting for a new sleeping bag… and do some laundry…

The day on a map and in numbers:

(pink line)

54.28km in 4:02:09h, which means 13.45km/h average speed. I managed to get it back up after that first 6km.

Total km so far: 400.42

Buttons favourite part of the day: that he did not have to push/pedal up those hills

Charlotte’s favourite part of the day: being praised by a neighbour of my father and reaching 1029km total since travelling with me

My favourite part of the day: reaching this point, sleeping without my sleeping bag tonight and getting a new one tomorrow.

I will write again tomorrow, so you can pedal this adventure with me.

keep exploring and smiling

your Fairy
