Charlotte, Button, and I are cycling the Danish Baltic Bicycle Route. (Day0, Day1, Day2, Day3, Day4, Day5, Day6, Day7, Day8, Day9, Day10, Day11, Day12, Day13, Day14, Day15)
Well, I guessed that this would happen for a while: I won’t be able to finish the tour.
I am just too slow… After today I have 250km left on the Baltic Sea Bicycle Route. That means I would have to cycle the next 5 days 50km per day. Maybe I would even make it. But that would also mean on Saturday I would have the train ride home after the 50km. Probably getting home late, only have Sunday to get everything unpacked and prepared for Monday. That would be stressful.
So I will follow the tour til Faaborg and then turn and take the ferry back to Fynshavn. And cycle back the way I did on days 1 and 2.
But about today: I got a late start and left the campground at 11:20 am.
While I was packing up my tent I got very stunned by this little guy:
By the way, this is the name of this nice campground:
What do you think, should I do reviews of all the campgrounds I visited?
So, we started cycling, with headwinds of course, and no benches when I wanted to find some for a break. But then I found this parking lot, with a bench and a toilet.
There were a lot of children in the forest and I guess the beach behind it. There was something like a school bus there…
And while I was sitting there of course someone had to come and mow the lawn… They really like mowing here.
Then we cycled on some more until another parking lot at a beach.
Now we were getting close to Svendborg. (We were already here on day4, you go through it twice on this route.)
But before there were quite a few more hills to climb…
Then I had this nice view of the bridge I had to pass on day 4
In Svendborg, I went into a supermarket because I was running low on sweet snacks.
By the way, I thought I might do a “what I eat in a day” tomorrow, might that be interesting for you?
Then I cycled through the city and into and through Rantzausminde to get to the Campground. Just to be told, that they did not open yet.
But kindly they let me stay anyway because I only need cold water and a toilet, the warm water and kitchen do not work yet. I do not even have to pay anything. They give me a new picture of Fyn.
Today all bicyclists I met just stared at me and did not say “Hej” like all the others before. And at the supermarket that one guy waiting for something stared at me the whole time. That was not a nice curious stare, it felt really… bad. So I was wondering about the people a little, but this kind and friendly campground owner proved me wrong.
I can see from my campground the ferries that go from Svendborg to ÆrØ that I also took on day 4
We cycled/walked today:
~42 km
Total km on this tour so far: ~548km
money spent:
82.80 DKK at the supermarket
I will be writing again tomorrow so you can pedal along with us!
If there is anything you would like to know about, please do not hesitate to ask. I am happy to include your interest in my reports if possible.
keep exploring and smiling
your Fairy
