Charlotte, Button, and I are cycling the Danish Baltic Bicycle Route. (Day0, Day1, Day2, Day3, Day4, Day5, Day6, Day7, Day8, Day9, Day10, Day11, Day12, Day13, Day14, Day15, Day16)
So, I left the route today, to take a shortcut and make it relaxed home in time.
I also did record everything I ate today, even though I felt like one of those weird people that take pictures of their food. 😉
Last night it rained and kept being stormy, but luckily it was dry long enough in the morning to pack a dry tent up.
But the first thing I do in the morning, after using the bathroom, is to make myself breakfast. I used the kitchen of the campground and sat on a bench inside to avoid the still wet benches and stormy weather outside.
Hot water with about 100 g of oats and 2 spoons of protein powder. (8 am)
I left the campground around 10:30 am to cycle up and down hills against the wind.
I normally like to take a break every 45-60 minutes, but I found nice benches after 90 minutes.
12 – 1 pm: 4 slices of popcorn waffles and 60 g of milk chocolate. And this is the nice spot in Vester Aby with plants to block the wind:
Shortly after I left that spot I had to take a picture of this sign
As someone who learned Latin and Ancient Greek in school it is funny there is a Korinth in Denmark.
Well, many hills later I reached Faaborg despite the headwind.
2 pm: 50 g of salted peanuts and about 100g of gummy bears (in Danish: Vingummibamser)
A few km later I left the route to go to Bøjden and catch the ferry. I remembered part of this trip from 3 years ago, and the new part was at least as hilly as the part I remembered.
I went straight to the ferry terminal, if there was not ferry anymore, I could cycled back 1-2km to a campground, but I was hoping to get back to Fynshav today.
Nowhere at the terminal was a schedule, so I had to go into the office and ask. I was there at 3:30 pm and got told the next ferry was leaving at 5 pm. So I sat down in the waiting room (it was raining outside)
and ate another 100 g of chocolate, this time with nuts. 😉 and read for the next 90 minutes, until we boarded the ferry.
Then it was just a short trip from the ferry terminal in Fynshav to the campground I already stayed one night on before (day2). It is sunny here by the way.
First I had to do laundry. I did not do it this morning because of the rain. So I asked in the office what coins I would need for the dryer and changed some. Luckily for me, they have a clothing centrifuge here, that did not cost anything. So I washed everything by hand, put it into the centrifuge, and when it was only damp put it into the dryer. This way I actually only needed one coin to get everything dry.
And then dinner
One bag of powdered mashed potatoes with 2 hands of air-dried tomatoes and peppers. (7 pm)
If nothing bad happens or I have a really bad day, I will be home in 2 days. That feels kind of weird…
What do you think, should I do reviews of all the campgrounds I visited?
We cycled/walked today:
~42 km
Total km on this tour so far: ~590km
money spent:
91 DKK for the ferry
90 DKK for the campground
10 DKK for the dryer
I will be writing again tomorrow so you can pedal along with us!
If there is anything you would like to know about, please do not hesitate to ask. I am happy to include your interest in my reports if possible.
keep exploring and smiling
your Fairy
